Choke on Sunshine

We always want sunshine but He knows there must also be rain

What is courage in the face of what’s ahead?
“Come and join the race,” says the rat.
Tempting, it’s a well-trodden path;
A finish line that’s never on the horizon.

There are the less-travelled paths,
Tempting, and there’s more than a few.
But where most steer clear of,
And only the unafraid few dare to walk.

In this intersection,
A person calls into question values
He has always held dear to himself.
“I’ll think with my heart,” he says.

Yet here is the person closing the door to a familiar room.
A room where there’s so many windows open.
When a door closes, another one opens, they say.
For all he knows, the next room might just have nicer windows.

“But perhaps you hate a thing,
And it is good for you,
And perhaps you love a thing,
And it is bad for you,” He says.
